Conference: The Blessed Ulma Family – martyrs of war

We invite you to a conference about the Ulma family, beatified by Pope Francis on September 10th of this year, in their home village Markowa (Poland). The whole family of nine – the parents and seven children, including one unborn – was martyred on the morning of March 24th, 1944, during World War II, for providing shelter to Jewish families hiding from the German Nazi regime.

The conference will open with an address by Dr. Mateusz Szpytma, historian who discovered and researched the story of the Ulmas (himself from Markowa village and related to Bl. Victoria Ulma).

A panel discussion will follow, with prof. Magdalena Gawin (Pilecki Institute), George Weigel (Ethics and Public Policy Center), and Dariusz Karłowicz (St. John Paul II Institute of Culture, Angelicum).

The conference will end with a film screening of the documentary film “The Ulmas. A blessed family” (Rafael Film).
