“Secularization in Europe: Theory and Reality”-JP2 Lecture

Mirosława Grabowska – sociologist and professor of the University of Warsaw; serving Director of Polish Centre for Public Opinion Research, Poland’s largest institution of its kind, since 2008. She specializes in political sociology, sociology of religion, and secularization theory. Former visiting professor at Stanford University, Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, University of Wisconsin, and Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz in Germany. From 1982 to 1989 she worked as an editor of “Krytyka” quarterly. Detained by the communist regime in Poland for opposition activities from 12 June to 21 September 1985. Winner of Fr. Józef Tischner Prize for her book The Post-Communist Cleavage. Social Bases of Politics in Poland after 1989. Author of God And The Polish Affair. Beyond the Boundaries of Secularization Theory (2018).
